Swan Update: Is the Male Swan looking For a New Mate?

The swan, who was rescued by the Shepperton Swan Sanctuary, is still poorly but hanging on. We will need to wait until she is well enough and the embargo on bird movements, caused by the bird flu, is lifted before she can return.
The male is not happy and flies off quite often. It/s coming up to mating season so maybe he may well try to find another mate.

20mph Speed Limit Consultation for All of Richmond Borough

Richmond Council last night voted for a consultation on a 20mph maximum speed limit for all roads in the borough. The consultation will be after the local elections.

Proposed Low Emissions Zone Proposal to Cut Through Richmond Borough

The London Mayor has proposed expanding the ULEZ from central London up to, but not including, the North and South Circulars. So all vehicles traveling inside the south circular not meeting the emission standards would be subject to a £12.50 charge. There are two concerns: if you live in Ham and Petersham and want to go Townmead dump or Kew Gardens and your car does not meet

the emissions standards then there would be a charge. Secondly,  there could an effect on roads in Ham and Petersham, just outside the emissions zone, as vehicles attempt to avoid the zone. Perhaps the better solution would be to include all London boroughs, including all of Ham and Petersham and Kingston in the zone. That way more people wuld benefit from cleaner air
